Who We Are

Mary C. Lizzul
President

Mary C. Lizzul brings to her clients over twenty years of successful, hands-on development and management experience with non-profit organizations. Mary offers expertise in organizational and development assessments, major gifts and planned giving, capital campaigns, annual giving, start-up development operations, volunteer management, volunteer and Board training, and the planning, management and evaluation of overall development operations.

Before establishing MCL Consulting, Mary served as Vice President of the consulting firm Schultz & Williams, Inc., working with small and large non-profit organizations in the areas of healthcare, education, conservation and the arts. Prior to consulting, Mary built a successful career in hands-on fundraising and management at educational and health systems organizations. She had the unique experience during the merger of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Hahnemann University and a consortium of hospitals to assess, reorganize and build an integrated system of major gifts, planned giving, donor relations and development services while growing gifts and pledges, endowed professorships, charitable trusts, bequest expectancies and bequest maturities.

During a $200 million campaign at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mary and her staff trained and managed close to 400 volunteers and conducted 25 regional campaigns that raised approximately $25 million in special gifts. Her ten-year tenure at Rensselaer also included management of a $3.5 million unrestricted Annual Fund, development of a regional alumni and development program, and management of corporate and foundation fundraising for key technological centers on campus.

Mary has a bachelor's degree from Douglass College of Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey and a master's degree in public administration from New York University. She has been a member of the Council for the Advancement & Support of Education and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the National Committee on Planned Giving. Mary also serves on the Board of Directors of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia and is a member of the planning committee of the AFP's Franklin Forum.
