Who We Are
Mary C. Lizzul
President
Mary C. Lizzul brings to her clients over twenty years of successful,
hands-on development and management experience with non-profit organizations.
Mary offers expertise in organizational and development assessments,
major gifts and planned giving, capital campaigns, annual giving,
start-up development operations, volunteer management, volunteer
and Board training, and the planning, management and evaluation
of overall development operations.
Before establishing MCL Consulting, Mary served as Vice President
of the consulting firm Schultz & Williams, Inc., working with
small and large non-profit organizations in the areas of healthcare,
education, conservation and the arts. Prior to consulting, Mary
built a successful career in hands-on fundraising and management
at educational and health systems organizations. She had the unique
experience during the merger of the Medical College of Pennsylvania,
Hahnemann University and a consortium of hospitals to assess, reorganize
and build an integrated system of major gifts, planned giving, donor
relations and development services while growing gifts and pledges,
endowed professorships, charitable trusts, bequest expectancies
and bequest maturities.
During a $200 million campaign at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,
Mary and her staff trained and managed close to 400 volunteers and
conducted 25 regional campaigns that raised approximately $25 million
in special gifts. Her ten-year tenure at Rensselaer also included
management of a $3.5 million unrestricted Annual Fund, development
of a regional alumni and development program, and management of
corporate and foundation fundraising for key technological centers
on campus.
Mary has a bachelor's degree from Douglass College of Rutgers-The
State University of New Jersey and a master's degree in public administration
from New York University. She has been a member of the Council for
the Advancement & Support of Education and is a member of the
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the National
Committee on Planned Giving. Mary also serves on the Board of Directors
of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia and is a member
of the planning committee of the AFP's Franklin Forum.
